Everybody is spending more time at home and becoming more selective about the cleaning products they use. No one enjoys a filthy bathroom, and no one wants to be surrounded by dangerous chemical particles. Most store-bought bathroom cleaners are loaded with chemicals and can harm our streams and marine life as they go down the drain.
Instead, cleaning solutions that are naturally derived, non-toxic, and biodegradable are better for the planet and are manufactured with sustainable production practices. Green cleaning refers to the use of natural components to make cleaning products. This might be as simple as adding some white vinegar in a spray bottle or as complicated as combining different ingredients to create a unique homemade product. At your home, you can do natural cleaning in a variety of ways.
For most eco-friendly cleaning activities around the house, there are three main materials to keep on hand:
Lemons with Baking Soda or Distilled White Vinegar
These three goods are inexpensive and easily available in environmentally friendly packaging.
- Combine half a cup of vinegar and one tablespoon of baking soda in a mixing bowl.
- Allow 20–30 minutes for the mixture to rest around the interior of the toilet bowl before giving it a good scrub. If you only have vinegar, this will work as well and it will not be as abrasive as other cleaning products, simply spray and leave as directed before scrubbing.
- Fill a spray bottle halfway with vinegar and a little bit of water and spritz your bath and sink. Allow the vinegar to work for 20 to 30 minutes before scrubbing it clean with a towel or a brush. The vinegar should also assist in the removal of any mould.
- When you’re using lemons, cut one in half, squeeze it for a healthy glass of hot lemon water, and then wipe it over the bath or sink. Sprinkle salt over the lemon to act as a scourer for any dirt that is a little more difficult to remove.
